Portland Heights


Significant development of the Southwest Hills dates back to the late 1800’s, when a cable car was installed allowing year-round access to the heights; previously, winter rains had made the steep, dirt roads impassable. Portland Heights, along with Council Crest are located above Goose Hollow and downtown Portland.

 

VIBE AND STYLE

This hillside paradise has a mix of residents. The area contains some of Portland’s most spectacular high-end real estate, where many of the homes have views of downtown and Mount Hood. Centrally located, Portland Heights is ideal for commuting in any direction, and for those who travel frequently, a one way trip to the airport is accomplished in less than a half hour.

 

OUTDOOR SANCTUARY 

Outdoor adventures are plentiful and provide residents and visitors ample chances to explore the area. The guidebook Portland Hills walks maps out 20 meandering, view-studded strolls from forested canyons to cityscape peaks, including areas in Portland Heights. Forest Park, one of the largest urban parks in the United States, is only a few minutes away by bike or foot. The Portland Heights to Zoo Walking Tour is a 5.6-mile walk that combines stunning views of downtown, the Cascades and 19th-century homes along wooded paths. Other neighborhood parks include Portland Heights, Council Crest, Governor and Marquam.
